We grow fresh, tasty veggies and herbs using alternative growing practices that maximize yields with minimal inputs. We use organic and biointensive methods that improve soil fertility by managing and promoting the soil’s natural biological activity (worms are our friends). We don’t use synthetic herbicides or pesticides, so you can be sure these things aren’t getting into your body. And because we’re local, time from harvest to consumption is shorter. This means fresher, healthier and tastier food.
We are committed to environmental sustainability and will always consider this as we make decisions that impact our financial sustainability. We use as little tillage as possible, which means we minimize long term soil compaction that leads to erosion and runoff. In addition to emphasizing biointensive methods, we test our soil regularly and tightly manage water usage to minimize leaching (this isn’t even close to being a concern for us, but we thought we’d let you know about it anyway). And because we're local, our food doesn't travel very far, so we burn much less fuel getting it to you.
We’re local, so when you buy from us, or eat at restaurants who buy from us, more of your money stays in the community. This is important to keeping our community vibrant and strong. Furthermore, we will also continue to buy local whenever possible. Sometimes we simply can’t get what we need locally, but we will always look for a local source first.
Freedom is the cornerstone of our society. In order to have freedom, you need the ability to choose. The means having real options to choose from and having the information necessary to make decisions on things that are in line with what you value. Because we are small and new, we can try new veggie varieties and growing methods that allow us to give you options for food that you may not have had before. And we hope that we are providing you with enough transparency about who we are, what we do, and how we do it so you choose us. :)
